REVIEW: Kartica | IND Scene

IND-Scene-Kartica

Indie/rock band Kartica have blessed our ears with a little tune they called “Dont You Think So“. Forming in 2008 and coming all the way from Sheffield in the UK, the five-piece band are one to look out for. Kartica open their debut single with an acoustic guitar, elegant piano and Matthew Hook’s strong vocals before throwing in the drums and bass 50 seconds later.

On my first listen, I instantly fell in love with Kartica, they clearly demonstrate what is needed for good, strong indie/rock track – a catchy riff, sing-along lyrics and a beat anyone can dance to. Not only this, but I couldn’t help but be reminded of Britpop pioneers Oasis and The Verve - more songwriting at its highest.

If this track is anything to go by, it looks as if Kartica are going to gain quite a reputation. Excellent song writing and a passion for music is all that’s needed to gain a few fans, Kartica on the other hand demonstrate this and much more. “Dont You Think So” is familiar with the repeat button and a non stop grower, “Always had a way to hide away in the sunshine” is the opening line soon to be sung by masses…
