The Story
The Electric Modern are an indie rock band from Hertfordshire, England. Formed in 2008, The Electric Modern is Dean Canty (vocals/guitar), Adam Sullivan(guitar/synth/vocals), Henry Marsden (Bass) and Jon Mytom-Hart (Drums). Since the band’s inception, The Electric Modern have played countless live shows around the U.K as well as recording material that formed their self-titled, debut album that was released in 2011.
In the spring of 2011, after a lineup change and a new found focus, The Electric Modern entered the studio to record a three track EP, ‘Motives‘. This new direction was a big step forward for The Electric Modern and showcased the band’s love of writing catchy, uplifting indie rock-pop. The new songs were fresh, inspired and anthemic; possessing a more refined sound than their earlier material. Throughout 2011, The Electric Modernremained active and had various songs and live sessions featured on national and regional radio stations such as BBC, Vibe, Verulam and Amazing Radio. Their song ‘Lets Get Away‘ was awarded both download and single of the week in August 2011 on Amazing Radio.
In November 2011, The Electric Modern were picked by Vibe Radio to play at the annual Watford firework display and performed to over 30,000 people. Later that month they went on to record a studio session for BBC introducing and performed two songs live on air. The Electric Modern have received much praise across online media and blogs such as Alter the Press and Alwayz Therro and were featured in the January 2012 issue of the influential American magazine Alternative Press. The Electric Modern have also formed a collaborative partnership with Jack&Jones clothing and, in December 2011 they released their stand-alone, self mixed/produced single “I’m not ready to leave (sleepless)“.
The Electric Modern have supported many popular acts such as Fixers, Spycatcher, Cuba Cuba, The Static Jacks and The Joy Formidable and are busy working on new material and will tour throughout 2012.
